We are living in Colorado!!
January 27, 2006
The latest news in our lives is that we are living in Woodland Park, Colorado (25 minutes up into the mountains west of Colorado Springs). September 2005 we moved all our Virginia belongings here, put it in storage and lived in an RV in the front yard of our precious friends Barry & Michelle Patterson for five weeks. After looking for a house to purchase for most of that time and not getting a clear "Go ahead" from the Lord to buy, we decided to rent a house and moved all our belongings up from Texas.
Projects: 1) Mark latest solo CD has been mixed and mastered by Randy Adams. The graphics are still in the process of being finished. It should be out in the next month or so--as soon as we have enough funds to duplicate it. It is a collection (working title "View from the Hill") of improvised melodies inspired by our life in Virginia. Mark is very excited about getting it finshed and out there for all of you to enjoy.
2) We are continuing to write songs for a CD of both of us together of our own songs. Please continue to pray that we would be able to take the time aside to work on this.
3) Mark is busy arranging and orchestrating a set of hymns for Prism Music. It is a project for church choir and orchestra. So be looking for that as well.
Greenhouse Arts: As many of you know, Christi has been continuing on the arts community from Virginia online and through monthly tele-conference calls. Go to Greenhouse Arts to check it out. That has been exciting, but we have wanted to get something going here in Colorado. January 2006, we started a Monday night Greenhouse meeting locally with a group of Jesus following artists that has been a lot of fun. We are pushing out the areas of creativity and community with these artists and are in the process of getting to know one another and really build the level of trust.
We eventually want to have a retreat center here for artists to come and create. Until then, though, we are always on the lookout for houses to rent for such a purpose. Last November we met a couple who were headed to Peru on a mission trip with SportReach and needed someone to sublet their house to offset the costs. We felt led to commit to this and so we are renting an additional house until March for artists to come and plug into the vibrant artist community here. We have already had a singer/songwriter take some time to do some writing, and another worship arts couple is coming next weekend to do the same thing. If you, or someone you know, would like to come, please let us know.
This whole season has taken a toll on us financially. So, if you would like to support this vision financially, here's how to do that: Tax-deductible donations to the Bovees and Greenhouses Arts: We are in the process of getting 501(c)(3) status. Until that time, the ministry, Growth Dynamics International , in Virginia, run by Doug and Charlene Fike, has graciously agreed to continue to receive tax-deductible donations on our behalf. If you are interested, all that's involved is to make the donation payable to Growth Dynamics, Intl., with a note referencing Mark and Christi Bovee, and send it to their offices (see below). If you have any questions about this, please refer them to me and not GDI. We don't want to put any additional burden on them or their staff, if possible. Feel free, however, to contact GDI if you have any questions specifically related to their ministry.
